The 2016 Lone Star Regional is approaching fast and we’re looking forward to meeting you in Frisco, TX October 20-22, 2016!

This note is to provide information in advance regarding the facility, logistics, the planned activities, and other FAQs. We hope it helps you get oriented and helps you plan your upcoming trip.

Trailer Parking Shuttle (Thursday Only) –A van will operate continuously on Thursday between Trailer Parking, the Embassy Suites lobby, and the door near Registration. Hop on, hop off!

Registration Desk Schedule – After trailer parking, this will be the first order of business for most Members. Registration will open no later than 10:00AM on Thursday for both NCRS members and their cars. Final packet assembly and goodie bag stuffing will take place prior to opening Registration.

If you are bringing a car, pick up both your member and your car registration packets. When you pick up your car registration packet, you will be asked to sign your “green sheet” (insurance verification and waiver). Make sure you sign your “green sheet”,  without it, your car’s event results cannot be recorded.

Important: Bring your insurance verification and proof of ownership with you when you pick up your car registration packet.

Fire Marshal Rules about Gas & Batteries – Corvettes parked inside the Convention Center must have no more than ¼ tank of gas or 5 gallons (whichever is less), gas caps taped, and batteries must be disconnected.  Plan accordingly. No fuel can be removed from a car parked inside.

Site Maps – Two site maps are posted on the Texas Chapter website under upcoming events > information.

A floor plan of the Convention Center and a site map of the Embassy Suites grounds are both posted outside Registration to orient you to the facility.

Judging Team Assignments – Judging team assignments will be posted on a wall somewhere close to the show floor. Check this list for your judging assignments, your car’s judging schedule, and your team leader’s name.

Name Badges – We will have pre-printed name badges and a clip style plastic holder in your registration packet for each member, spouse, and guest you registered. If you prefer a different style holder, feel free to bring your own or ask if we have another style. Wear your name badge during the event for admission to the show floor and the planned activities.

Schedule of Events – The most current Schedule of Events is being maintained on the Texas Chapter website  under upcoming events > information. You will receive a mini version of the Schedule with each name badge in your registration packet.

Schedule changes will be noted on the one posted outside Registration.

Car Judging Schedule – Once finalized, the car judging schedule can be found in the Schedule of Events which will be posted on the Texas Chapter website under upcoming events > information. It will also be posted at the event on the wall near the judging assignments.

Texas Chapter Website – Event documents (site maps and Schedule of Events) are being maintained on the Texas Chapter website under upcoming events > information.

Silent Auction – Victim Relief Ministries will be managing the silent auction again this year. An exciting array of Corvettethemed items will be available for you to view and bid. Bids close Saturday at 1:00PM and proceeds benefit VRM. Note: If you have items you would like to donate, see Teresa King at the VRM table on Thursday. VRM will bring some of their comfort dogs for you to meet!

Door Prize Raffle – We also have a nice selection of prizes to be raffled: gift certificates, merchandise, and other Corvette themed items. Tickets will be available for purchase for $1 each or 6 for $5. Prizes will be on display and winners will be posted outside Registration.

PV Scheduling and the 10 Mile PV Course – Contact your Team Leader to introduce yourself and to schedule your PV. Most PV’s are scheduled on Thursday but some may be scheduled opposite the Team Leader’s Flight judging day. The Team Leader will likely provide you with some preparation instructions.

If you need contact information for your Team Leader, the list is posted on the NCRS website under Contacts.

Most PV’s will occur in the trailer parking lot. If your car was parked overnight in the Embassy Suites Parking Garage, the PV can start there. Do not start your car the day of the test until instructed by the Team Leader (cold start & fast idle are crucial parts of the test).

Sportsman Display Cars – You will have a choice to park your Sportsman car inside on the show floor or in the Embassy Suites Parking Garage. Cars parked indoors will need to remain on the show floor until released Saturday afternoon. Cars in the parking garage can be used as needed.

Security – Security has been arranged for the Trailer Parking lot and the Show Floor from 6:00PM – 6:00AM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The Show Floor will be locked overnight.

Observer Judging – Observer Judging is an ideal way to get involved with an actual judging team to participate in the process.

OJ’s do not decide point deductions but do listen in on the judges’ conversations and often fill out the score sheets.

Select a class(e.g. 58-60), a category (e.g. Mechanical), and find the Team Leader for that class no later than 8:00AM the morning of judging. Don’t be bashful about finding the Team Leader. You will find them at the Embassy Suites judges breakfast or on the show floor a few minutes before 8:00. They will include you, space permitting. 2 judging points are awarded if selected as an OJ.

Cold Start Instructions – Cars to be Flight judged will have cold start and fast idle operation verified as part of Operations

Checks Thursday.

If you trailer your car, do not start your car Thursday until instructed by the Ops Judging Team. You can manually push the car out of the trailer if you like but do not start the engine.

If you drive your car to the event, arrive with enough time for your car to cool down. Each car is different, so know how long your car takes to become cold. You may need to arrive Wednesday evening to allow sufficient time. If your car is in the Embassy Suites Parking Garage overnight, the Ops Judges will go with you to the garage to perform the cold start check.

Wash Rack – A wash rack with hose, water, and nozzle will be available behind the Convention Center on Thursday. Bring your own bucket, sponge, and drying towels. See the Site Map for the location.

Where to Go First with a Trailer – You should go directly to the Trailer Parking Lot regardless of when you arrive. Do not drive up to the front door of the Embassy Suites with a trailer or you’ll get to figure out how to back out! You will then need to proceed (walk or take the shuttle) to the Registration Desk to complete your paperwork.

Trailer Parking - Beginning Thursday morning, a team will check your name against a list of those with paid trailer parking. If you bring a trailer but did not pay in advance, you will be able to pay for trailer parking at Registration.

Motor Home and Big Rig Parking – Motor home and big rig parking is available in the trailer parking lot as well. Park larger rigs on the south side of the lot where there is plenty of room to spread out. Like with car trailers….beginning Thursday morning, a team will check your name against a list of those with paid trailer parking. If you did not pay in advance, you will be able to pay for parking at Registration.

Operations Checks – Operations checks will take place in the trailer parking lot for Flight judged cars beginning at 12:15PM on Thursday prior to placing cars in the Convention Center. Pizza will be provided for lunch. Read the section on cold start & fast idle instructions.

All cars need to be inside the Convention Center by 5:30. Plan to arrive early to allow sufficient time for the operations check and to get parked inside. Do not show up at 5:15 and expect to be accommodated!

A canopy will be set up in the trailer parking lot. Owners should proceed to the canopy to check in and find out who their ops judging team will be. Ops judges and Team Leaders should proceed to the canopy to locate owners of cars in their class. Bruce deLeon will be there to get owners and judging teams together.

Once operations checks are complete for your car, you will proceed (drive) to the Show Floor where you will be directed to your assigned spot. Cars are carefully lined up on the Show Floor so please be patient with this important process.

Wednesday Arrivals – If you arrive Wednesday with a trailer, you can park it in the Trailer Parking Lot Wednesday night.

Registration will open by 10:00AM Thursday. No activities are planned for Wednesday so arrange dinner on your own. Event security has been arranged for Wednesday night in the trailer parking lot. Please park your car and trailer on the East side of the RoughRiders parking lot. The East side is nearest the apartment complex. Security will begin in the lot on Wednesday night.

Welcome Reception – The Welcome Reception this year will be held Thursday at 6:00PM in the JCP Club overlooking home plate at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark. The gates across from the Embassy Suites lobby will be open and you can walk around the field on the club level. A nice selection of free stadium food is planned and a cash bar will be available.

Awards Banquet – The Awards Banquet will be Saturday evening at 7:00PM with a social hour beginning at 6:00PM. The Banquet will be in the Frisco 7 & 8 ballrooms which are 2 of the 4 ballrooms used for the Show Floor. The menu will be better than ever!

In Case of Rain on Thursday – If severe weather is imminent, we have made arrangements for operations checks to take place in the Embassy Suites Parking Garage. We plan on conducting cold starts in the trailer parking lot for those cars that are trailered and then bringing the cars into the Garage for the remainder of the ops check.

Questions During the Event – The Registration Desk will be staffed throughout the event. If you have questions or need to find someone, stop by Registration and we’ll get you pointed in the right direction.

Merchandise Sales – You will have the opportunity to purchase event and Texas chapter merchandise at the display table next to Registration. Stop by and see what is on hand. Credit cards accepted.

Ladies Activity – Donna Woods, a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, is offering complimentary facials and makeovers both Friday and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Stop by and meet Donna in the Bass Room.

General Admission – The Show Floor will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 9:00AM – 4:00PM. Admission will be $5 with children and members of the military admitted free.

Texas Chapter Membership Meeting – A general membership meeting of the Texas Chapter will be held at 5:00PM on Friday.

Everyone is invited but only Texas Chapter members can vote in the officer election.

Car Owner Lunches – Instructions and order forms for a box lunch on the day of your car judging will be included in your car registration packet. We have arranged to deliver a lunch directly to you so you do not need to leave the show floor on the day of your judging.

Bonus Judging Points – For those of you with cars to be Flight judged, you get 10 bonus points if you have the following 3 items: fire extinguisher, battery disconnect switch (knife or dial), and an NCRS window sticker. Call or write the NCRS office in Ohio if you need a free sticker.

Bring Along – Please bring along the following items:

1. Tools for removing the spare tire, air cleaner, and ignition shielding.

2. Folding chair to sit on plus reading material.

3. Pen and paper to take notes.

4. Fender covers: 2 cotton towels or other fender covers.

5. Insurance and proof of ownership
